Festa de Santa Tecla in Tarragona

Festival of National Interest, granted by the Spanish government, and Heritage Festival of National Interest, granted by the Catalan government

Since 1321 Tarragona has celebrated the festival in honour of Santa Tecla, the city's patron saint. For two weeks, the Festa Major de Santa Tecla fills the streets of the Part Alta (historic quarter) with life. Among the activities not to be missed, we highlight the two castell days (human towers), the Baixada de l'Àliga (Descent of the Eagle), and the performances of the traditional festive figures.
