Route description

We start the hike in Tarragona. We leave the car near the marina or in the car park at Platja del Miracle. We begin walking through the Fortí de la Reina until we reach Arrabassada beach, leaving on our left what used to be the Sabinosa sanatorium. Next, we pass through the small and welcoming Cala Romana until we reach Platja Llarga. From there, we head north along the shore. At the rocky end, the path climbs a little and enters the Bosc de la Marquesa, where we find two nudist beaches: Platja de la Roca Plana and Cala Fonda, or Waikiki, as locals popularly call it. This stretch of the Camí de Ronda is classified as a Natural Area of Interest. From the heights we can see Cala Fonda. The path continues near the edge of the cliff, among vegetation. We cross a beach and carry on until we reach the Torre de la Móra. Past the cliff area, the path cannot continue along the coast and turns inland to skirt the Torre de la Móra campsite. Inside this site stands the famous watchtower. If you want to visit it, you will have to go in; it can be done without any obstacle. Crossing Platja de La Móra we find rugged cliffs until we reach Cala Jovera, where we can take in a full panorama of Tamarit Castle on our left. We skirt the castle on its left side and go down the road to Tamarit beach. To reach Altafulla you just need to follow the beach. It is worth extending the hike a little to visit the mouth of the Gaià River, a small area comprising a group of small wetlands.

Transport: If you wish, you can make the return trip by bus, from Tamarit or the La Móra housing estate, on Line 12 of the Tarragona Municipal Public Transport Company.

Points of interest: On this stretch of the route we will find the Sabinosa Sanatorium, an abandoned place full of mystery and unsolved enigmas. Originally built to house tuberculosis patients, it was used as an orphanage after the Civil War. We will also find the Torre de la Móra, declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest, built to protect the coast from pirate invasions in the 16th and 17th centuries.

On the Costa Daurada, talking about 'xiringuitos' (beach bars) is now synonymous with design and good taste. Far from the simple constructions of the past, surrounded by tables covered with parasols, this stretch of coast now has three new spots where you can enjoy a vermouth or a refreshment by the sea, in a most elegant atmosphere. They are raised, minimalist in decor, and offer spectacular sea views. Relax and enjoy!

Watching the sun set from the beach while gazing at this Romanesque castle in the distance can take you back to the time when counts ruled these small medieval villages. If you have a talent for pencil or brush, we suggest capturing this scene on paper, and you will have a lovely handmade souvenir . Turn any ordinary day into a unique experience!

There is no better way to connect with the landscape than through the senses. And taste is undoubtedly one of the most evocative. We advise you to stop at one of the coastal restaurants to savour a good seafood rice, accompanied by seafood starters and a good glass of wine from one of the Designations of Origin of the Costa Daurada. If the landscape has touched your heart, this plan will touch your stomach, which is even better!
