Discover a fantastic creature in Les Madrigueres
Between the beaches of Calafell and Sant Salvador, in El Vendrell, lie Les Madrigueres, the only undeveloped area along the whole coast of the Baix Penedès. It is home to a great many animal and plant species... and also to the spirit Cordesal, a fantastic creature we will have to help by playing Peripècia.
Print out the game (or play its digital version) and head to Les Madrigueres. To save Cordesal, you will need to keep your eyes wide open, discover all the secrets of this unique place and look after its surroundings. You can also pick it up at the El Vendrell Tourist Office, at the Museu Pau Casals or at the activities organised by Geven. Will you join in? It's completely free!

Try a good xató
Endive, tomato, salt cod and a sauce of almonds and nyora peppers. These are the basic ingredients of xató, but in the Baix Penedès you can try as many varieties as there are xató makers. If your visit coincides with the first Sunday in February, don't miss the chance to take part in the Gran Xatonada Popular in El Vendrell, where hundreds of diners enjoy this typical dish of the area. It is repeated in Calafell on the first Sunday in March.
The wide variety of wines of the DO Penedès
Between the provinces of Tarragona and Barcelona lies the DO Penedès, the best known of all the Catalan appellations. We recommend visiting some of the wineries in this wine-producing area that have features that make them unique, such as those located in the mountains, others right by the sea, those located on the ancient Roman Via Augusta or those that separate their vineyards with dry-stone walls, declared World Heritage.
Follow the life of Pau Casals
Recognised as one of the greatest cellists of all time, Pau Casals was born in El Vendrell, in a humble house open to visitors, where you can follow the musical beginnings and childhood of this great maestro. Later, he moved to live by the sea, in what is now the Vil·la Museu Pau Casals, which is part of the Paisatge dels Genis route and where, through audiovisuals and personal objects, you will get to know the house, life and work of this illustrious native of El Vendrell. Finally, if you get the chance, take the opportunity to attend some of the many concerts held every year at the Auditori Pau Casals.
