DO Montsant
Without a doubt, one of the characteristics of this DO is its passion for craftsmanship. The hand of man is involved in the entire production process, a process that is the result of an inalienable balance between the field and the winery. The winegrower takes great care and tact with the vineyard in order to leave the winemaker with the best grapes, the one that allows him to create wines that are prized around the world.
Falset is the capital of the Priorat region and from here we propose a route to discover the DO Montsant. Because touring the city is also walking through the history of a unique land. Stroll through the alleys of the Jewish quarter, stop at the Plaça de la Quartera and escape to the neighbouring village of Capçanes, because in its cooperative you can learn about the process of making wines that are very international.
The region has the Wine Route, which includes wineries in the DO Montsant that can be visited, as well as walking routes or the "Wine Landscapes" car route, which you can do on your own with a local co-pilot recorded with audio guides. In addition, private wineries and villages organize activities, festivals and fairs related to the world of wine. Thanks to these routes you can learn dozens of stories of people who live wine and the long tradition in viticulture of the territory, with a visit to the modernist wineries of Falset and Cornudella de Montsant, built by Cèsar Martinell, in the natural environment of the Montsant Natural Park and with spaces as spectacular as Siurana, that relives stories of impossible conquests.
DO Montsant
The winemaking tradition of the DO Montsant is rooted in the vines of the Grenache and Carignan varieties, with which red, intense and also fresh wines are made. The D.O. Montsant, with almost 2,000 hectares of cultivation, is the youngest on the Costa Daurada.
