Joan Perucho Route (Pratdip)
This route turns the landscape into a legendary setting, where the boundaries between fiction and reality are not entirely clear. We have selected it because it is a good way to get to know the Baix Camp comarca and venture into the still little-known Serra de Llaberia.
Created by Muntanyes Costa Daurada, this route is based on the legend that the mountains around Pratdip and Colldejou, on the Costa Daurada, are home to the dips, little black vampire dogs that attacked flocks and drunken men wandering at night. The legend of the dips was immortalised in the novel 'Històries Naturals' by Joan Perucho, in which the protagonist Antoni de Montpalau risks his life to save the village of Pratdip from the evil Dip, against the backdrop of the Carlist wars.
We leave the village towards the cemetery and take a path on the left that descends until it crosses the Santa Marina ravine, then climb gradually, leaving the village of Pratdip behind. We reach a track that we follow to the right, and continue climbing gradually to the top, where we find the turn-off up to the Pic de la Güena, with very good views over the sea, the Serra de Llaberia and the Tivissa-Vandellòs mountains. We continue along the track until we reach the Font de la Duera, where we join the GR.
From here you can take a rugged little path that climbs to the Punta de Santa Marina. We take the GR to the right towards the Sanctuary of Santa Marina, along a comfortable track that descends gently. It is worth going into the Sanctuary and looking for the depiction of the dips and the story of Santa Marina. We cross the road and the picnic area and continue along the GR towards Pratdip, passing the old ruined spa. Further on, we cross the road again, follow it for a short stretch, and head up towards the Coll de Prevell between hazelnut fields, before dropping back down to Pratdip.
