The urban cave of Tarragona
When you go caving, the meeting point is usually in a remote mountain village, but in this case it is completely different. The cave is urban and you will find it in the middle of a capital city like Tarragona, right on the Costa Daurada.

You can leave your car conveniently in a car park in the city and the entrance is very close by. The Cova Urbana de Tarragona is located in the centre of the urban area, on Carrer Gasòmetre, and is without a doubt an exceptional cavity.
The Roman gallery, discovered in 1996, leads to a natural cavity with shafts, lakes, large chambers and an extensive underwater network. A quarter of a century later, the Cova Urbana can be visited, on prior request to the Societat d'Investigacions Espeleològiques de Tarragona (SIET). The organisation has about 40 members and is in charge of guiding people who are eager for adventure and keen to get to know the depths of Tarragona.
You will pass through a Roman gallery, several lakes and enormous caves. One of the most interesting experiences you can have right in the heart of Tarragona!
