The Musical World of Pau Casals
Right on the seafront, the Pau Casals Villa Museum, part of the Landscape of Geniuses Route, takes us through audiovisuals and music into the home, life and work of Pau Casals. The museum offers a wide range of educational activities and, for families, organises temporary exhibitions, family activities, night visits, talks and concerts. Let yourself be carried away by the music of this great master! Pau Casals was one of the greatest cellists of all time. Beyond music, he became a tireless defender of peace and the freedom of peoples. The house where he was born preserves the atmosphere of a very humble family home of the late 19th century. You can follow a route through Casals's childhood and early years in the musical world with a visit to his Birthplace. In addition, the Pau Casals Auditorium has an annual programme spread over several seasons, which also include jazz and dance. The cornerstone of this programme is the Pau Casals International Music Festival, which focuses above all on performances by prestigious cellists. And if you want to see all these places on a single route, one Saturday a month the Pau Casals Birthplace, the Pau Casals Villa Museum and the Pau Casals Auditorium, together with the Friends of the Organ of El Vendrell, offer guided tours of the Maestro's key places with an organ recital in the parish church of El Vendrell.
