More information
In one of its rooms, preserved in its entirety, you can see the oldest Christian-themed dome mosaic in the Roman world, decorated with hunting and biblical scenes and figures of uncertain interpretation. In the centre of the domed hall there is an underground crypt and a sub-crypt, thought to have held the Emperor Constans or some other Christian figure. Centcelles is managed by the National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona and is part of the archaeological ensemble of Roman Tarraco, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
