1. Salou, touching the sea with your fingertips
The Camí de Ronda in Salou, a 5.5 km stretch of the GR92 of low difficulty, is an ideal route for families to enjoy coves, beaches and spectacular views of Cap de Salou. The route combines nature and historical heritage, with attractions such as the old Lazaretto, the Civil War bunkers and the Salou lighthouse.

Route description
This stretch of the GR92, relatively recently refurbished, is one of the most emblematic routes on the Costa Daurada. You don't need to be a trekking expert to complete it successfully! It is very accessible for families who want to spend a Sunday outdoors, couples looking for a romantic sunset by the sea, or groups of friends who want to get a little exercise without giving up peace and quiet and taking a few photos of the beautiful views of Cap de Salou. In total, it is just over 5 kilometres, from the Pilons area, in the heart of the tourist district, to Replanells, at Cap de Salou. The walk reveals several panoramas: from Pilons, the path heads south and passes Els Capellans beach, where you can see the remains of the old Lazaretto, built in 1829. Right on this stretch, you will enjoy a walkway over the sea. Feeling dizzy? The route continues past Cala Llenguadets, from where you can see the bunkers built during the Civil War. If you close your eyes you can picture this same landscape in black and white, inhabited by old fishermen, with only the sound and sirens of the ships approaching the coast. It is easy to imagine how ships and vessels made Salou a compulsory stop, as one of the busiest ports on the Catalan coast. The last stretch takes you to Platja Llarga, beautiful and unspoilt like no other. Although the path reaches a maximum height of 77 metres above sea level, with sections that are slightly challenging, most of it is passable for everyone.

Points of interest: Along the route you will come across the famous Cadira del Rei Jaume (King James's Chair), a group of rocks near the sea that tradition and popular humour have turned into a very unusual sort of monument. Right after it lie the remains of a historic building: the old Lazaretto, where vessels coming from epidemic zones were once isolated, and which still has solid walls several metres high. Cap de Salou is an ideal place for watching seabirds with the help of a small telescope. Enjoy it!
