Play La Peripècia del Retorn a La Capona: a unique route to understand dry-stone building
Fancy a trip back in time? The Capona route is a real open-air museum where, along a one-and-a-half-kilometre trail, you will find dry-stone constructions such as barraques (huts), cossiols (stone basins), terrace walls, hiding places and other surprises!
More information
These are constructions of great historical value, listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, built stone upon stone - without elements such as mud or cement - finding a point of balance between them.
By playing this Peripècia you will get to know these constructions through Acor, the spirit of La Capona.
Visit the Montferri Sanctuary, dedicated to the Virgin of Montserrat
Inspired by Montserrat Abbey, on a hill in Montferri there is a church designed by the architect Josep Maria Jujol. We suggest a visit to this unusual sanctuary. In addition, several paths leave from the area around the Montferri sanctuary for walks in the Alt Camp region.
Discover the tallest bell tower in Catalonia and taste calçots
Valls is the capital of the Alt Camp, a city full of history and traditions where we suggest visiting the Jewish quarter, the tallest bell tower in Catalonia, the air-raid shelter... And if you visit Valls between January and April, don't miss the chance to try the traditional calçotada.
First stop on the Cistercian Route: the Monastery of Santes Creus
The Monastery of Santes Creus is one of the largest and best-preserved Cistercian monastic complexes that can be visited today. We recommend visiting it as a starting point for following the Cistercian Route or, if you prefer, you can complement the experience with a picnic and a stroll through the Albereda de Santes Creus.
History and nature in Vila-rodona
Did you know that in Vila-rodona you can visit a Roman columbarium? The area around the River Gaià, a Protected Natural Area, is also a fantastic place for a family walk. We invite you to end the day with a visit to the Modernista cooperative of Vila-rodona, one of the so-called Wine Cathedrals of the Costa Daurada.
