Calafell's Iberian Past
The Iberian Citadel of Calafell is one of the most unique archaeological sites in our country. Its in situ reconstruction makes it an ideal place to learn about and understand how the Iberians lived. Come and discover it, and enjoy the activities organised for the whole family at the Iberian Citadel. Each season has its own distinct programme of activities. In spring we invite you to join the routes and itineraries that explore the history of our town, and to celebrate International Museum Day with an open day. All summer long you can take guided family visits in which the educators get everyone involved, and don't miss the Terra Ibèrica Festival, a festival devoted to the Iberian world that includes children's and family activities, historical re-enactment shows and more, a whole experience that takes you back 2,500 years. On the first weekend of October you will always find a series of family activities and demonstrations of experimental archaeology techniques, as all of Catalonia celebrates the Iberian Weekend, and our Citadel cannot be missing. Christmas, Easter, the local festivals... school holidays are times when you can find something interesting in a programme designed to give you the tools to enjoy different experiences with your children. In Calafell you can also visit the Castle of Santa Creu or Casa Barral.
