Birdwatching from the Séquia Major in La Pineda
The Séquia Major is a natural area protected by the Plan for Areas of Natural Interest (PEIN) of the Generalitat de Catalunya since 1992. This 17.3-hectare coastal wetland in La Pineda Platja (Vila-seca) is the most important marshland between the Llobregat Delta and the Ebre Delta.
More information
Access to the Séquia Major is regulated and guided during the months when the birds are not nesting, from August to February. The area stands out for its biodiversity and the presence of many species. There you will find plant communities of reedbeds, wet meadows and rushbeds, as well as unique animals such as the Iberian toothcarp (Aphanius iberus) and the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis), species you will rarely see elsewhere in Catalonia because they are endangered.
Relax in the spas of La Pineda Platja
The Costa Daurada has a strong thermal tradition, which translates into a wide range of spas. Look after your physical and emotional wellbeing in the spas of La Pineda Platja, among which we would highlight, for their long-established reputation, Aquum and Spalas.
Plenty of green spaces
La Pineda Platja has many green spaces where you can enjoy peace and quiet and contact with nature. Examples include the Sèquia Major, especially rich in biodiversity, and La Torre d'en Dolça, one of the town's great green lungs.
Near Aquopolis you can also visit the Parc Pinar de Perruquet, right by the sea, which is inspired by the main elements of nature: wind, light, shade, earth and water.
La Pineda Platja, a Family Tourism Destination
La Pineda Platja (Vila-seca) is a destination particularly attuned to family tourism. It has a wide range of certified accommodation, restaurants and leisure and entertainment businesses aimed at children and their families. For this reason it has been awarded the Family Tourism seal by the Catalan Tourist Board.
