Discover the secrets of Altafulla's Vila Closa
In 1998 the Generalitat de Catalunya declared the old walled medieval centre of Altafulla a Cultural Asset of National Interest. This is the so-called Vila Closa, whose first mention dates from the second half of the 11th century.

We suggest taking a guided tour, lasting about an hour and a half, to discover all the secrets hidden in the little streets of Altafulla.
The explanations are adapted to the age of the group attending.
Tour Altafulla on the tourist train
In the summer, from June to September, a tourist train runs around the main points of interest in Altafulla. Enjoy a relaxed ride with the family on board the train, which conveniently links the seafront district with the historic centre of the town.
Take the chance to step inside Altafulla Castle
On the first Tuesday and the last Saturday of every month (except in the summer and Easter seasons), the magnificent privately owned Castell d'Altafulla opens its doors. Owned by the Marquis of Tamarit and the Montserrat family, it is a large building dating from 1059 that was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest in 2019.
Stepping inside is like strolling through the centuries. You will tour the garden in front of the north façade, the common areas on the ground floor of the parade ground, the staircase between the ground and first floors, and the landing of the staircase with its Renaissance gallery on the first floor. The 30-minute visit must be booked in advance at the Tourist Office.
Botigues de Mar, Altafulla's seafront district
We suggest a pleasant stroll through Botigues de Mar, Altafulla's seafront district. There you will find a very particular type of building, dating back to the 18th century, lined up in front of the beach sand. From the 20th century these old single-storey storehouses of the local fishermen gradually became shops and houses that are an inseparable part of Altafulla's landscape.
The guided tours, which let you get to know the Botigues de Mar district better, must be booked in advance at the Tourist Office (977 651 426).
