More information
It was the home of Valerius Avitus Caius, a leading figure in Tarraco, and his wife, Faustina. In 1967 it was taken over by the Archaeological Museum of Tarragona, which began the excavations and safeguards many of the valuable finds. Today, the National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona organises dramatised guided tours in summer. The Roman villa of Els Munts is part of the archaeological ensemble of Roman Tarraco, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
