Blow and make bottles at the Glass Museum
Museu del Vidre
They say easy things are like "blowing and making bottles", but would you like to find out whether it is really that simple? Making a piece of glass hides a host of small secrets that only the most observant can spot. Step into the workshop of the Museu del Vidre and enjoy, as a family, seeing how various glass pieces are made.
More information
You will see the master glassmaker "gather" the glass, how the ball inflates like a balloon, and even what happens if the glass is not put in the furnace.
During the summer months (July, August and September), following the instructions in the "Glassmaker's Apprentice Notebook", children and adults can discover the secrets of glass through small games.
Visit the Monastery of Poblet
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, Poblet is the largest inhabited Cistercian monastery in Europe. We suggest a visit through all its rooms to discover the history of this architectural complex of great importance to the Crown of Catalonia-Aragon. Poblet is the largest monastery on the Cistercian Route; Santes Creus and Vallbona de les Monges, in the province of Lleida, are the other two, and it is a good starting point for getting to know these three great monastic complexes.
The charm of rural life in Vallclara
A 13-minute drive from Vimbodí, we suggest a visit to the little village of Vallclara, a rural community at the foot of the Muntanyes de Prades, which has been designated a family tourism destination. If you enjoy hiking, it is a good starting point for an easy circular family route.
Discover the depths of the earth at the Coves de l'Espluga
We suggest putting on a wetsuit and heading up an underground river, discovering the most unusual and surprising galleries. It involves a visit to the Coves de l'Espluga, an introduction to the world of caving on a fairly easy route. If you prefer the outdoors, you can visit the Museu de la Vida Rural, a museum that explores the traditional life of Catalonia's villages, especially that of the farming families who lived in rural areas.
